Evolution vs. Creationism

Two thousand years ago the answer was simple. God created Man and so life spawned. However in the late 1850’s one man and a grand idea came to the surface. Although, at the time, this idea was grouped with the radical thoughts of the Earth is round and universal gravitation, it started a far more heated debate and challenged conventional thought. In 1859, when Charles Darwin published his Theory of Evolution, many non-science groups completely disregarded his work as anti-Christian. On the other hand the vast majority of scientists did accept and still to this day use his work as the foundation of biology. The advancement of our understanding of science since Sir Isaac Newtons day is alarming, yet we still have the same big questions. This is why Creationism is a plausible possibility and thus is still thrown in as an answer to which science has none. The question I would like to ask is; why did we seek an alternative to God? Was it down to scientific advancements that forced us down other avenues? Or were there pockets of rebels (who fell foul of the teachings of the Bible, Koran etc) that caused divisions between non-believers and the doctrine abiders? Many of the young, Western generation, will pass aside any religious point of view as unproven with little factual evidence and seek science as the only path. Our developments in science for the past 200 years has only broadened the dissension between science and religion. Technology and design have caused many capitalistic nations to be passionate agnostics (without admitting it). It is difficult to believe that God’s hand is at work when looking for cheap sofas for sale online or driving your new BMW. Deliberating the title of this article is narrow minded due to the dozens of other possibilities, but it does raise the fundamental differences in society. Religion has a place in todays world, but not at a cost of scientific progression. Science cannot explain everything otherwise it would stop looking, so exhaust every feasible theory, embrace thought and accept that we do not have an answer.
